Demi was pregnant when a volunteer went to pick her up at the shelter. That morning she gave birth to 8 puppies. The volunteer waited four hours for her to drop the last puppy. She did not and the volunteer had a two hour trip back and needed to get back. You guessed the last one came out in the volunteer's truck. Unfortuantely Demi had problem producing milk. All puppies had to be hand fed. Demi did start producing milk however, she had an infection in her glands and was unable to feed the puppies. Again, the puppies were hand fed. Four out of the nine puppies were too weak and passed away. This caused great heartache to the volunteers taking care of them round the clock. The vet who saw the puppies stated that sometimes this happens.Demi is a lap dog. She loves to sit next to you and put her head on your lap. She would be very happy with someone to just sit next to her and rub her belly. Do not let her looks scare you away. This is one very gentle dog. She is really good on a walk. She will stick by you and not pull. She does snore. He nose is such that she will often make snorting noises like a pig. She is a very sweet girl.Demi is very good with her foster dog brothers and sisters. She loves to play with them, sleep with them and eat with them. She also loves her belly rubs and walks. She is a really good dog. She is a high energy dog and will require at least one long walk per day along with her normal play time activities. Demi will make a great pet for an active family. She loves all types of activities, except getting her picture taken. She runs whenever she sees a camera.
