Here is a very nice greyhound boy who is already completely trained and home acclimated. He recently turned 7 years old and is in excellent condition. He is a smaller-size greyhound boy at around 72 lbs. Wiley lived in a home as a pet for 2 1/2 years, but sadly had to find a new home due to the death of his owner. He then went to another home that must now also give him up. Wiley is gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. He has lived in a home with cats, and interacts well with other dogs. He walks quietly by your side while on a leash, has excellent house manners, and rides well in a car. His former family took him on vacation to St. Augustine and to the Florida Keys, where he was a perfect gentleman. He is docile and laid back, smart, affectionate, and funny. He loves to play with his toys and enjoys a good run in the yard when the mood strikes him. He loves to be petted and loves to be with people. His favorite treat is chicken strips (the jerky type you can buy at PetsMart or PetCo), although he will be happy with any kind of treat. He also enjoys an occasional McDonalds hamburger, and once stole an ice cream cone, which he seemed to enjoy. Wiley was returned from his last home because he nipped a child who distrurbed him while he was lying down. We know that when an otherwise sweet dog nips a child, it is through fear. Because of this incident, we feel Wiley is a little too afraid of smaller children who may inadvertently fall on him or otherwise startle him while he is lying down. He would be fine with older well-behaved children and teenagers who would be gentle with him and not startle him in that way. If you are looking for a dog who would do well as an only dog, Wiley might be perfect for you. He has lived in a home as an only dog and did quite well. You may have heard about people who get a greyhound and can't believe how quiet and easy they are to have around. That is the perfect description of Wiley--just a sweet, gentle, easy-going guy who just wants to be near his people and get some attention when you have the time. During his racing days, Wiley competed in 47 races in Arkansas with 8 wins and 5 places. We originally had picked him up at the Sanford/Orlando track, so we assume he was sent there to race, but we found no record that he ever actually raced there. His litter mates all have names such as Mr. Q, Mr. T, Mr. W, Mrs. R, Mrs. S., Mrs. X, Mrs. Y, and Mrs. Z., which is certainly not very original to say the least! Wiley's adoption fee of $150.00 includes his neuter, teeth cleaning, vaccines, microchip, leash and collar, adoption guide, grooming glove, stuffie toy, Pet-Z-Life tooth gel and toothbrush.
